Papiesfontein Beach Horse Trails
Unforgettable Beach Horse Trails
10 km outside Jeffreys Bay and 70 km from Port Elizabeth, between the Gamtoos and Kabeljous rivers, lies Papiesfontein Beach Horse Trails. A unique combination of bush, river and beach come together to offer you an unforgettable ride.
Skilled guides accompany riders along a 13km circular route. The trail takes approximately two hours to complete, leading through beautiful fynbos coastal vegetation, towards the Gamtoos river with breath-taking views from the dunes and finally returning along a 6 km stretch of isolated beach. Here on this remote beach stretch, riders are able to canter in the shallows or have a gallop on the sand.
The trail provides magnificent views of the area with ample opportunity to spot a variety of bird species, bushbuck, tortoises, vegetation and marine life. Imagine whale watching from horseback!
You may also encounter seals basking in the sun and the rare African Black Oystercatcher.
The guides escort every group and assist each rider in selecting horses just right for their respective capabilities. This outride is ideal for intermediate and advanced riders. Experienced riders can choose not to go with a guide and have the freedom to explore the valley at their own pace.
Please note that bookings are essential as well as note their different riding times before making any bookings. They offer 3 levels of riding, beginners, intermediate and advanced. Please ensure that you select an appropriate riding level.
If you would like more information on the different riding classes, please don’t hesitate to contact Papiesfontein and they will provide any information required.
